Find out about the costs you’ll need to cover during your time at university.

You’ll need to budget for tuition fees, but don’t forget course materials and living costs such as housing, meals, transportation, recreational activities, and insurance.
 

EU citizens

Tuition fees per semester

If you’re a citizen of an EU or EEA member country or Switzerland you currently need to pay tuition fees of 363.36 EUR per semester.

Please note that different tuition fees apply for non-EU citizens. You can find out more in the Tuition fees for non-EU citizens section.

Austrian Student Union dues

Every student needs to pay Austrian Student Union (ÖH) dues, currently set at 24.70 EUR per semester.

The dues cover a wide range of services and benefits such as student liability insurance.

Non-EU citizens

Tuition fees for non-EU citizens

Non-EU citizens pay different tuition fees, since their education is not subsidised by federal or state governments.

However, on the basis of the documents provided, we’ll check, whether you belong to one of the relevant ‘groups of persons (Personengruppenverordnung)’. If applicable, you will be equated with EU-citizens with regard to the amount of the tuition fee.

Fee status 2024. We explicitly reserve the right for alterations.

Registration Fee

All non-EU citizens are charged a registration fee of EUR 300 for online applications, regardless whether they potentially belong to one of the ‘groups of persons’ under the Personengruppenverordnung. Once payment has been received, you can continue with the online application process. The registration fee is refundable. If you’re accepted, the fee will be deducted from your tuition fees.

Overview of tuition fees for third-country nationals

Current tuition fees for non-EU citizens plus a 24.70 EUR student union fee. We explicitly reserve the right for alterations.

Business programmes

6,900 EUR per semester

  • Bachelor programmes: Business Administration for the Public Health Sector, Business Administration, Global Sustainability and Circular Business, International Business Management, International Wine Business, StartUp Management, Tourism and Leisure Management, Business Administration and New Technologies
  • Master programmes: Digital Business Innovation and Transformation, International Business and Economic Diplomacy, Management, Management of Health Institutions, Marketing, Environmental and Sustainability Management

Science & Technology programmes

9,500 EUR per semester

  • Bachelor programme: Applied Chemistry, Informatics, Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
  • Master programme:  Engineering Responsible AI-Systems, Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, OMICS Technologies and Data Science in Biomedicine, Sustainable Chemistry and Digital Processing 

Health sciences programmes

6,900 EUR per semester

  • Bachelor programmes: Occupational Therapy, General Nursing, Midwifery, Music Therapy, and Physiotherapy
  • Master programmes: Advanced Nursing Practice, Applied Health Sciences; Music Therapy

     

Paying your tuition fees and Students’ Union dues

You will only be allowed to study if we receive payment of your tuition fees and Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH) membership dues within 14 days of the date of the payment request.

Please remember that it can take a few days for your bank to complete the transfer.

Degree programmes starting in the winter semester:

Payment requests are sent out between 1 July and the start of the degree programmes and payment must be made within 14 days of receipt.
 

Bank transfer, including through online banking

You can download your payment confirmation before the start of your studies either from the dashboard on the IMC Apply Online and Onboarding Plattform, or using the eDesktop if you are already registered as a student.

Once the payment has been made, your study place is confirmed and you can be enrolled for the coming semester. You will also receive access to programme-related information and documents.

  • When you pay your tuition fees and ÖH membership dues, you must transfer the correct amount in full. It is not possible to make part-payments.
  • The person making the transfer must pay any bank fees. Make sure you find out about any possible fees in Advance (this is especially important with international transfers).
  • Please provide all of the relevant payment information (IBAN, BIC/SWIFT, payment reference number, etc.) so that we can clearly identify your payment.
  • If you have already paid your ÖH membership dues at another university, you will only receive a request for payment of your tuition fees. This is checked in advance by reconciling the available data.
  • If you do not make payment before the deadline, or do not transfer the full amount, your study place will be given to another applicant, even if you have already signed the education contract.
  • Requests for payment of tuition fees and ÖH membership dues are only made for the upcoming semester; it is not possible to make advance payments for future semesters.

Scholarships and grants

Unfortunately, our university does not award scholarships for reduced tuition fees.

However, any student with an excellent academic record (performance in examinations and other assessments) has the opportunity to receive a merit-based scholarship once during their degree programme. You’ll receive all the information you need about this on the programme.

Just like students at the traditional Austrian universities, you can also apply for student aid or other state or private grants.

What are the living costs in Krems?

Expect to spend around EUR 850 to EUR 1,000 per month for living, food and utilities. How much you actually spend depends on your personal requirements. Here's a small list of average price factors: 

Accommodation

Single room in student residence EUR 450 – 490 per month
Double room in student residence EUR 335 – 370 per month
Single room in shared apartment EUR 450 – 550 per month

Food & drinks

Breakfast (from the supermarket) about EUR 5 per day
Lunch (from the supermarket or restaurant) about EUR 5 – 20 per day
Dinner (from the supermarket or restaurant) about EUR 5 – 20 per day

Public transport

Train ticket from Krems to Vienna about EUR 9 – 20 (single)
Taxi in Krems about EUR 5 – 8 (single)

Costs for course materials

Course books and handouts will cost between EUR 200 und EUR 500 in your first year. In subsequent years this will decrease to about EUR 100 per year.

These costs will of course vary, depending on whether you purchase only the required literature or also the recommended literature.
