Two careers, one shared path – and a new alumni chapter in Hong Kong

From the lecture hall to a shared life abroad: Jennifer and Patrick met at IMC Krems, got married, built international careers – and are now giving back as Alumni Ambassadors. A great example of how studying at IMC creates strong networks and long-lasting connections – while opening doors that one might never have planned for.

Where it all began: A chance encounter at IMC Krems

Jennifer and Patrick met during their studies at IMC Krems. Both completed the diploma programme “Export-oriented Management EU-ASEAN-NAFTA” (now: International Business and Economic Diplomacy master degree programme) and, by coincidence, spent their semesters abroad at the same destinations. What began as a shared flat soon turned into more: their time at IMC laid the foundation for a partnership that continues to be shaped by international involvement – both privately and professionally.

Around the world together: Career paths and family life

After graduating in 2009, Jennifer began her professional career with AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Her work took her to Singapore, Shanghai, Chicago, and Vienna before she was appointed Austrian Trade Commissioner for Hong Kong and Macau in 2023. Patrick accompanied her on this journey, managing various projects at each location to support Austrian companies in expanding their international business. Today, they live with their daughter in Hong Kong, where they contribute their international expertise and network.

Commitment to the IMC Community: Alumni Ambassadors in Hong Kong

Whether across three continents or now in their new home of Hong Kong – Jennifer and Patrick have always maintained close ties to IMC Krems. In the meantime, Jennifer also returned to the IMC campus as a part-time lecturer, teaching the subject “Economic Diplomacy”. Now, both are active as IMC Alumni Ambassadors in Hong Kong: with a new Alumni Chapter, they aim to connect graduates in the region and support students during their internships or exchange semesters. Their commitment helps to further grow and strengthen the vibrant, global alumni network of IMC Krems.
