Selin Meseli wanted a degree programme that connects theory with real experience. She explains: “I was looking for a university where knowledge is not only taught but applied.”
This expectation led her to the Informatics bachelor degree programme at IMC Krems. Today she is in her 5th semester and completing a mandatory internship at Palfinger Europe in Salzburg. The practical focus of the programme helps her understand how digital systems and data management work in real business environments.
Her current internship, the Practical Training Semester, is a central part of the programme. Selin is currently working with data across several internal platforms. She reviews information, checks its accuracy and ensures that essential data is kept up to date. Her daily tasks show her how important clean and reliable data is for effective decision-making.
She is also involved in designing new process pipelines and business models. SAP – a widely used business tool for data management – plays an important role in her work. Through these tasks, she is gaining a clear understanding of how digital solutions support companies in their operations.
One of the reasons Selin chose IMC Krems is the close connection between students and lecturers. She values the approachable atmosphere and the clear communication within the programme. “The direct contact with lecturers made me feel supported from the very beginning,” she says. This environment helps students feel confident, ask questions and exchange ideas openly.
The international community on campus is another major advantage of her studies. Students from different cultural backgrounds work together on projects and assignments. This diversity encourages new perspectives, strengthens communication skills and prepares students for global careers in the field of technology.
Krems offers a calm and inspiring environment for students. The city is located along the Danube River and surrounded by vineyards. Selin enjoys spending time outdoors after lectures or work.
Throughout her studies, Selin has developed a strong combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills. Working with international teams has helped her approach challenges with more confidence and clarity. “Studying at IMC Krems has changed the way I see myself. I discovered strengths I did not realise I had and I feel prepared to step into the international world of work,” she reflects.
She encourages new students to stay curious, ask questions and connect with people from different backgrounds. For her, university is not only about modules and exams.
