Story
Tourism shaped by curiosity, culture and real experience

Choosing IMC Krems as a place to study and stay
Krems was already familiar to Sarah before starting her studies. Living nearby made the decision easier and studying in such a distinctive setting quickly felt like the right choice. The international atmosphere on campus and the people she met along the way shaped her everyday student life from the very beginning. “Starting your studies at IMC Krems is easier than expected and you meet many inspiring people,” Sarah says.
Because she feels strongly connected to IMC Krems and the city itself, Sarah is planning to continue her academic journey with a master degree programme at IMC Krems.
Studying abroad as part of the studies
International mobility is an essential part of Sarah’s studies. One of her most memorable experiences was her exchange semester in Norway. Winter landscapes, snowy streets in Lillehammer and seeing the Northern Lights turned the semester into something truly special. Moments such as moving from the sauna straight into the freezing sea made the experience intense and unforgettable.
An internship in Costa Rica as a professional milestone
Costa Rica offered a completely different perspective and further shaped Sarah’s international profile. During her internship, she travelled through Central America, improved her Spanish and immersed herself in a new culture. At the same time, she gained valuable professional experience in a supportive team environment and built friendships that lasted beyond the internship.
Learning tourism through real projects and industry insights
What Sarah values most about her degree programme is its diversity and strong practical focus. Courses are designed to connect theory with real projects and applied learning. Study trips are an integral part of this approach and allow students to experience the tourism industry first hand. “Seeing how tourism professionals work helps me understand the complexity of the industry and how theory translates into everyday practice,” Sarah explains.
One of these trips led Sarah to ITB Berlin, the world’s leading travel trade show. It brings together tourism organisations and professionals from across the globe and provides insights into current trends and innovations within the international tourism sector.
Student life in Krems
Outside her studies, Sarah enjoys spending time with friends in Krems. Coffee breaks, studying together and karaoke nights are part of her everyday life. Travelling remains a constant passion and fits naturally with both her studies and her personal interests.
A message for future students
Looking back, Sarah encourages future students to approach their studies with confidence and openness. Starting a new chapter may feel challenging at first but the IMC community supports students from the beginning.
