Strong Partnerships, Shared Future: IMC Krems Deepens Cooperation with Vietnam

Milestones in education, healthcare and international collaboration – from Hanoi to the twinning partnership with Hue

A bridge with strategic depth

The recent delegation visit by IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences (IMC Krems) to Vietnam sends a clear signal for the continued expansion of international cooperation. The focus was on strengthening long-standing partnerships and strategically advancing joint initiatives in the fields of healthcare, nursing, medicine and tourism.

For more than two decades, IMC Krems and Vietnam have been connected by a close and trusting partnership that has evolved continuously and is now regarded as a sustainable model of international academic collaboration.

Hanoi: From pioneering project to strategic partnership

A new Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Hanoi University, elevating the cooperation to a strategic level. The foundation for this partnership was laid as early as 2006, and it has since developed far beyond a traditional academic collaboration.

“This agreement opened a window for cooperation, which has been continuously expanded ever since,” emphasised Heinz Boyer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and founder of IMC Krems.
The collaboration is delivering tangible results: graduates benefit from diverse international career opportunities and successfully apply their expertise across a wide range of sectors. At the same time, they make a valuable contribution to the exchange between Vietnam and Austria. The strong visibility of IMC Krems in Vietnam is succinctly captured by the Vietnamese Ambassador: “IMC Krems is well known in Vietnam.”

Hue: Focus on healthcare expertise and future professions

Another key milestone was achieved with the renowned Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The signed agreement opens up new opportunities for cooperation in the education of nursing staff and medical students, as well as in research and academic exchange.
This not only strengthens IMC Krems but also enhances the entire Krems academic hub, particularly Karl Landsteiner Private University of Health Sciences.
Heinz Boyer highlighted the strategic direction of the partnership: “The future belongs to the international and the entrepreneurial. Standing still means falling behind.” He also made it clear that the cooperation is focused on implementation: “Actions speak louder than words.”

Krems and Hue: A partnership beyond academia

With the signing of a Letter of Intent between the cities of Krems and Hue, the collaboration has been expanded to include a key additional dimension. Alongside academic topics, cultural exchange, tourism, urban development and heritage preservation are now also at the forefront.
This initiative underlines the ambition to approach international cooperation holistically and to create sustainable connections between regions.

A clear outlook: Cooperation with impact

The delegation visit demonstrates how long-established relationships can evolve into targeted future projects. IMC Krems positions itself as an active bridge-builder between Europe and Asia, with a clear focus on practice-oriented education, international mobility and the sustainable development of skilled professionals.
The agreements reached represent a partnership geared towards implementation. Or, as Heinz Boyer put it: “These agreements are not documents to be filed away – they are a commitment to action.”
