Shaping the future of entrepreneurship

StartUp Management student champions young founders worldwide

Students in the StartUp Management bachelor degree programme enter an environment shaped by innovation, collaboration and practical learning. One of them is Daniel Gerlei, who experienced an energetic start from his very first weeks on campus. “The first weeks have been full of momentum. Meeting classmates who are building their own ventures has been a real highlight,” he recalls.

Daniel’s commitment to the start-up ecosystem extends beyond the campus. As President of the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, he leads a community of young entrepreneurs from around the world.

A programme designed for entrepreneurial minds

The StartUp Management programme is strongly practice oriented. Its structure supports students who want to build their own ventures, offering real-world applications and a boot camp format that enables direct implementation of new concepts. This approach is particularly attractive for students who aim to combine academic learning with entrepreneurial development.

Courses in management, finance and accounting provide a solid foundation for building scalable ventures. Daniel particularly values that at IMC Krems, students work with hands-on tasks, guest speakers and real cases, ensuring that theory quickly becomes practical know-how. And with its historic centre and natural scenery, Krems offers a calm environment that help students focus on their studies whilegaining new perspectives.

Creating impact through global connections

Daniel’s commitment to the start-up ecosystem extends beyond the campus. As President of the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, he leads a community of young entrepreneurs from around the world. Through international events, conferences and the “25 Under 25” initiative, the society empowers emerging founders and connects them with global mentors.

Together with his team at the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, Daniel is now planning new international events designed to connect, inspire and empower young founders - and his studies at IMC Krems equip him with the tools and mindset to turn these ideas into meaningful initiatives.

From the classroom to the TEDx stage

In his role as President of the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, he recently gave a TEDx Talk exploring why young entrepreneurs are leaving Europe. The response from the audience, especially the conversations afterwards, made a strong impression on him and strengthened his motivation to support young founders also going forward.

Building strong skills for the future

The programme also looks closely at emerging trends and future skills relevant for modern entrepreneurship. Students gain insights into digital transformation, sustainable business models and the role of new technologies in shaping start-up ecosystems.

Daniel appreciates this approach, as it encourages him to refine his ideas and explore new opportunities with a forward-looking mindset.
