Programme Director Albert Stöckl looks back on 10 successful years and is delighted with a record number of new students.

‘Not only are we starting this year with a record number of new students, but we are also celebrating our tenth anniversary – a double reason for us to be happy,’ explains Albert Stöckl, head of the International Wine Business programme, proudly.

Wine meets business

The programme uniquely combines the world of wine with a sound business education and prepares students for a career in the global wine industry. Its international character is particularly pleasing: the new students come from a total of 18 countries. Eleven of them are from Austria, six from Ukraine, and three each from Slovakia and Lithuania. Other students come from Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania, as well as Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark, Bulgaria, Turkey and China. A total of 25 male and 16 female students are starting their first semester. They are united by their enthusiasm for wine, culture and business.

New, modern curriculum

A particular highlight is the newly structured curriculum: it is clearly divided into five modules – business, management, wine knowledge, wine production, and research & IT. This gives students not only a solid theoretical foundation, but also practical training with an international perspective.

Another new feature is the introduction of ‘applications’: in addition to numerous excursions and hands-on courses in the vineyard and cellar, students independently organise and supervise wine pop-ups and wine fairs – including announcements and marketing via digital media. This allows them to gain valuable experience that perfectly combines theory and practice.

The courses offered by IMC Krems are characterised by practical teaching, close cooperation with the wine industry and a consistently international orientation. In the coming semesters, students will not only acquire in-depth knowledge, but also gain exciting experience in a globally networked environment.

The Wine and Business programme thus combines innovation with tradition, laying the foundation for the next generation of specialists and managers in the international wine industry.
