IMC Krems is placing an even greater emphasis on mental health and psychological wellbeing within its university strategy. Through a newly developed Mental Health and Wellbeing Platform, the introduction of Mental Health Supporters for staff, and the launch of the international peer-support app TalkCampus for students, the university is implementing targeted measures to provide the best possible support for students and employees during challenging phases of life.
Particularly during the 2025/26 academic year, which is dedicated to the annual theme of “Mental Health”, existing initiatives are being brought together, made more visible, and complemented by new digital services.

IMC Krems Strengthens Its Commitment to Mental Health

A Holistic Approach to Mental Health and Psychological Wellbeing
The IMC Mental Health and Wellbeing Platform has been developed to provide centralised access to information, support services and resources in one place. Its aim is not merely to address mental health on an ad hoc basis, but to establish it as an integral part of everyday study and working life.
As a university, IMC Krems recognises its particular responsibility to provide students and staff with professional support, guidance and access to appropriate assistance. The promotion of mental health and psychological wellbeing is regarded as a fundamental prerequisite for sustainable academic success, performance and personal development.
To support this objective, the platform offers specially produced videos in both German and English featuring experts from the Department of Health Sciences. It also provides guidance on counselling services, self-help resources, stress management, resilience-building and other health-related services available within the university.
Ulrike Prommer, Managing Director of IMC Krems, emphasises the strategic importance of this approach:
“As a university, we see it as our clear responsibility to actively promote the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff and to create conditions in which studying, working and personal development can thrive sustainably. It is our responsibility to provide quality-assured and professional support services that accompany and empower people through different stages of life.”
Accessible Support Through an International Peer Community
Complementing the internal platform, IMC Krems has introduced TalkCampus, an innovative digital support service. The app enables students to engage anonymously and securely with a global community of peers at any time and from any location.
Particularly during demanding periods of student life, TalkCampus provides an additional layer of support, ranging from spontaneous conversations and group discussions to journalling and reflection tools designed to promote mental wellbeing. Moderated around the clock, the platform creates a safe space in which students can openly discuss challenges and concerns.
Complementing Existing Services at IMC Krems
The new initiatives promoting mental health and psychological wellbeing form part of IMC Krems’ broader commitment to mental health. In addition to digital tools, the university continues to offer personal counselling services for students through Hilfswerk Krems, coaching services provided by Instahelp, Mental Health Supporters for staff, awareness-raising initiatives, and a range of health-promoting activities within both the study and working environment.
