Founded in 1973, Siam University is a private university in Bangkok with more than 15,000 students. It places a strong focus on innovation, technology, and social cooperation.

“I am impressed by the excellent 30-year collaboration with Siam University and delighted that we are now taking another step towards strong international networking through the progression agreement,” said Prommer.

“3+1 model” enables two degrees

The new “3+1 model” is the basis of the agreement. Students of the Hospitality and Tourism Management programme at Siam University in Bangkok now have the opportunity to study for three years in Thailand and then spend one year at IMC Krems to complete the bachelor degree programme in Tourism and Leisure Management. This study year will be credited towards their degree in Thailand, enabling students to receive two qualifications in total.

“In the future, we want to further strengthen this cooperation through the exchange of lecturers between Krems and Bangkok. We are also planning to give our students in Krems the chance to spend a year studying in Bangkok,” explained IMC CEO Udo Brändle.

The “3+1 model” will also be implemented in the field of “StartUp Management” to place a stronger emphasis on entrepreneurship.

Transnational projects and programmes: a global success story

IMC Krems has always placed great emphasis on practice-oriented education with an international focus. A cornerstone of this strategy is the transnational study programmes. The new “3+1 model” with Siam University is a valuable addition to the already well-established and successful transnational programmes in Egypt, Azerbaijan, China, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

This programme with Siam University offers students the unique opportunity to experience the Krems campus and Austria’s renowned tourism sector first-hand.

The focus on tourism is no coincidence: the bachelor degree programme in Tourism and Leisure Management is one of IMC Krems’ flagship programmes and was the very first programme offered when IMC Krems was founded in 1994. All curricula place a strong emphasis on the close integration of theory and practice. English as the language of instruction, international lecturers, and projects from industry prepare students optimally for a global career. Another highlight is the compulsory internship semester, which enables students to gain valuable professional experience.

“It is precisely the combination of international orientation, practice-oriented projects, and professional experience that makes our education so unique. In this way, we provide students not only with academic excellence but also with the best possible foundation for a successful future,” summarised Ulrike Prommer.
