IMC Krems expands partnership with Hainan Tropical Ocean University

New agreement signed for joint tourism degree programme

IMC Krems is continuing its successful partnership of over ten years with Hainan Tropical Ocean University (HNTOU) in China. On 31 July 2025, a new cooperation agreement for a joint tourism degree programme was signed in Sanya.

The official ceremony took place in the presence of representatives from both universities – including Heinz Boyer, Chair of the Supervisory Board and Founder of IMC Krems, IMC CEO Udo Brändle, and IMC Project Manager Chen Yang.

Visit to the Wuzhishan campus

On the previous day, a delegation from IMC Krems visited the Wuzhishan campus of HNTOU. They were accompanied by Chen Rui, Party Secretary of the university, Vice Rector Yang Xueqian, and Zheng Qirong, Deputy Mayor of the city of Wuzhishan.

The focus of the visit was on the future potential of the site for joint educational and development projects in the field of health and wellness. The delegation visited, among other facilities, the hospital for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, the Rendishan health and wellness centre, and a student residence complex.

A location with great potential

The Deputy Mayor of Wuzhishan highlighted the region’s advantages, including its ecological environment, tourism resources, and well-developed infrastructure.

Heinz Boyer emphasised the strong development potential of Wuzhishan and expressed IMC Krems’ willingness to initiate new international cooperation projects in partnership with HNTOU. The aim is to support regional development through practice-oriented educational programmes and to train highly qualified professionals in the health and wellness sector.

The expanded partnership with HNTOU exemplifies IMC Krems’ international focus. With innovative, application-oriented programmes and close collaboration with international partners, IMC Krems contributes to the education of globally minded professionals.
