IMC Krems and voestalpine Krems now share renewable energy

Sun Contracting operates a photovoltaic (PV) system with a capacity of 8,045 kWp at the voestalpine Krems site and makes its surplus energy available to major consumers via the Power4Business energy community.

In practice, this means that IMC Krems purchases the surplus solar power that voestalpine Krems does not consume – at favourable conditions. The university of applied sciences thus sources additional solar electricity.

As one of the first participants, IMC Krems now covers part of the energy consumption at several of its locations with renewable energy from this community – making a tangible contribution to the regional energy transition.

Bernhard Dollensky, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IMC Krems, emphasises: “As a sustainable university of applied sciences, we carry responsibility – not only in teaching and research, but also through concrete climate protection measures. Our involvement in Power4Business is yet another example of how we don’t just teach sustainability – we live it.”

Ulrike Prommer, CEO of IMC Krems, adds: “By joining the Power4Business energy community, we are strengthening not only Krems as a green location, but also its economic base. It clearly shows: sustainability pays off in the long term – for all involved.”
