How IMC Krems shapes the next generation of responsible AI engineers

From Informatics to Responsible AI: Angie’s next step

Sometimes, the next step becomes clear through experience. This is reflected in the academic journey of Ariunzaya – Angie – Odontugs, alumna of the Informatics bachelor degree programme and now a student in the Engineering Responsible AI Systems master degree programme at IMC Krems.

Originally from Mongolia, Angie has been living in Austria since 2015. Travelling from Salzburg to Krems for her studies has become part of her routine and reflects her commitment to continuing her education.

After completing her bachelor degree, Angie decided to continue her studies at IMC Krems. She was looking for a degree programme that combines technical expertise with responsibility and sustainability.

Building the foundation for sustainable AI thinking

During her Informatics studies, Angie discovered her passion for technology and its real-world applications. She became particularly interested in how digital systems influence everyday life and how they can be used to solve practical challenges.

At the same time, she began to reflect on the broader impact of technology. Topics such as responsibility, sustainability and transparency became increasingly important to her and shaped her academic interests.

Finding the perfect fit: Studying Responsible AI at IMC Krems

After completing her bachelor degree, Angie decided to continue her studies at IMC Krems. She was looking for a degree programme that combines technical expertise with responsibility and sustainability.

The Engineering Responsible AI Systems master degree programme offered exactly this combination. Its international environment, strong practical focus and English-language teaching made it the ideal next step.

Designing ethical and sustainable AI systems for the future

In her current studies, Angie focuses on key topics in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The programme combines state-of-the-art AI knowledge with values such as transparency, sustainability and human oversight.

Students learn how systems evolve when AI components are introduced and how to design them responsibly from the very beginning. This approach supports the development of innovative and environmentally responsible technologies.

Applying AI knowledge in real projects

A key milestone in Angie’s bachelor studies was her practical training semester at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT). There, she worked with large datasets and contributed to machine learning solutions.

This experience helped her apply her knowledge in a professional environment and gain valuable insights into real-world applications of AI and thus set the perfect baseline for her current studies.

The journey continues

Angie is currently exploring potential topics for her master thesis, with a strong interest in applying responsible AI in practice. Looking ahead, she hopes to find a position where she can apply what she has learned and further develop her skills.

A city that inspires success

For Angie, studying at IMC Krems is a rewarding experience that supports both academic and personal development.

The city of Krems offers a calm and inspiring environment. Surrounded by nature, it provides the ideal setting to focus on studies while maintaining a good balance.

She is grateful for the opportunities her studies have provided and looks forward to continuing her journey in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
