We are delighted to feature our graduate from an IMC transnational programme, Lam Thi Thanh Ta. As a former student of our Business Administration programme in collaboration with Thuongmai University (TMU) in Hanoi, Vietnam, Lam had the opportunity to spend an unforgettable exchange semester at IMC Krems in Austria. In this interview, she looks back on her experiences abroad, reflects on her role as a brand ambassador for the programme at her home university, and shares how her academic path has shaped her professional career.
Story
From Hanoi to IMC Krems

Our transnational programme Business Administration in Hanoi combines the best of both worlds: a fully accredited European education delivered locally in Vietnam and taught in English by both Vietnamese and international lecturers. Students gain a strong foundation in business administration, economics, project management, corporate communications, and digital transformation—rounded off by a 22-week internship semester and the chance to study one exchange semester at IMC Krems.
Let’s start with your time in Austria. What was it like to spend your exchange semester at IMC Krems, and what moments stand out as the most memorable from that experience?
I had the privilege of immersing myself in a truly multicultural and multilingual environment, where I could learn from the perspectives of friends from across the globe. The calm, gentle, and peaceful lifestyle in Krems offered me a refreshing contrast to the bustling pace of life in my hometown.
Studying abroad often changes the way we see the world. How did your semester in Krems influence your perspective—both personally and academically?
One of my most unforgettable memories was my very first day in Austria. I was deeply moved by the warmth and kindness of the locals, people offered to carry my luggage, guided me when I got lost, and made me feel welcome despite their own busy schedules. Since I arrived one day late for the official exchange student welcome event, Ms. Ingeborg personally took me around Krems and showed me how to settle into my new life. Her dedication and kindness made me feel at home from the very beginning. Though I only spent one semester there, Krems quickly became my “second home” in my heart.
Studying abroad was a turning point in my life, it transformed me in the most positive way. I learned to step out of my comfort zone, challenge myself, and embrace the wider world. From adapting to a brand-new academic environment to embarking on my very first solo trips, I came to truly understand the meaning of “Independence – Freedom – Happiness,” the motto of my home country, Vietnam. I discovered my adaptability, my passion for cultural exploration, and a new sense of confidence. At IMC Krems, the highly practical and relevant curriculum strengthened my knowledge, improved my language skills, and prepared me with valuable real-world insights that continue to shape my career today.
Back at your home university, you decided to take on the role of a brand ambassador for the Business Administration programme in Hanoi. What inspired you to step into this role, and what message do you want to share with future students?
Becoming a brand ambassador for the IMC Krems Business Administration programme was my way of sharing these valuable experiences with others. I wanted to contribute to a strong alumni community, a place where students and graduates can connect, inspire, and support one another. To future IMC students, my message is: trust in your choice, be brave enough to step outside your comfort zone, and embrace every opportunity. The rewards - solid knowledge, meaningful experiences, and lasting personal growth - will far exceed your expectations.
Fast forward to today, what are you currently working on, and in which ways do you see the influence of your IMC Krems education in your professional life?
Currently, I work as a Marketing Leader at a company in Vietnam specializing in construction and waterproofing materials. The knowledge I gained at IMC continues to be a solid foundation in my career. Beyond marketing expertise, I developed strong management and problem-solving skills that allow me to confidently address challenges in my daily work. IMC’s practice-oriented approach equipped me to apply theory directly to real-world business situations. For me, choosing IMC was not only the right decision but also a life-changing one.
Finally, if you could give one piece of advice to students considering the transnational programme in Hanoi or an exchange semester in Krems, what would it be?
IMC opens the door to your future success. Be courageous, be confident, and embrace as many experiences as you can; you will never regret the journey.
