Finding the right balance

Lukass Lauskis on studying, working and personal growth

Lukass Ronalds Lauskis is currently in his first semester of the master degree programme Digital Business Innovation and Transformation at IMC Krems. His journey at the university began earlier, with the bachelor degree programme in Export-oriented Management (now: International Business Management). Positive experiences during his bachelor studies, along with the international and practice-oriented approach, motivated him to continue his academic path at IMC Krems.

“Do not doubt yourself. Make a choice and commit to it. If it works, continue. If it does not, change direction. But do not get stuck,” advises Lukass.

Turning practical experience into opportunity

Alongside his studies, Lukass places strong value on real-world experience. During his internship at The Social Hub Vienna, he worked as an Event Manager Intern and gained insights into professional event organisation. This experience opened new doors: he received two job offers shortly afterwards. One role involved working for an event company specialising in pub quizzes, while the other focused on supporting American students during their exchange semester in Vienna. Lukass decided to take on both roles, learning to balance studies, work and everyday life.

Digital business with real-world relevance

The choice of master degree programme was a conscious one. Lukass is convinced that digitalisation and emerging technologies are essential for European companies to remain competitive in a multipolar world. This mindset is reflected in his current work, where he supports the digitalisation of pub quiz formats and helps expand this concept across Europe. For him, this combination of digital innovation and export management creates a clear link between theory and practice.

Studying part-time, learning continuously

Lukass particularly appreciates the part-time structure of the master degree programme. With limited on-campus presence, usually once a week, the programme allows him to combine academic learning with professional responsibilities. While the workload remains demanding, he sees it as a manageable challenge and an important part of his personal and professional development.

Enjoying the stage on- and off-campus

Beyond studies and work, Lukass enjoys performing. Whether playing the French horn or hosting events, being on stage has always been part of his life. These interests also support skills that are valuable in professional settings, such as communication, confidence and presence.

A mindset that encourages progress

For Lukass, studying at IMC Krems is not just about gaining knowledge, but also about building networks and learning from different industries. His advice to anyone unsure about their next step is clear: “Do not doubt yourself. Make a choice and commit to it. If it works, continue. If it does not, change direction. But do not get stuck.”
