Viktoria Graf is currently in her fourth semester of the Chemistry bachelor degree programme at IMC Krems. Her journey shows how an early interest in science can develop into a clear academic and professional direction.
Story
Exploring chemistry: from lab work to real-world applications

A passion for chemistry and hands-on learning
Viktoria chose this degree programme because of her fascination with chemistry. The combination of theory and practical laboratory work helps her deepen her understanding. It also shows how scientific concepts are applied in real-world contexts.
Since the programme is taught in English, Viktoria studies in an international environment while staying in her home country. This allows her to combine a global perspective with a familiar setting.
Student life in Krems and the Wachau region
Krems offers an ideal environment for studying and living. Viktoria enjoys spending time outdoors, especially walking along the Danube at sunset. She also likes exploring the Wachau region and its many natural spots. The historic old town adds to the experience and creates a calm atmosphere that supports focused studying.
Balancing studies and professional sport
Alongside her studies, Viktoria plays professional volleyball. Balancing both commitments can be challenging, but it has helped her improve her time management and discipline. These skills are important for her academic and personal life.
Gaining practical experience in biomedical chemistry
Looking ahead, Viktoria plans to complete her internship at Johannes Kepler University Linz. There, she aims to gain further hands-on experience in polymer chemistry, particularly in biomedical applications. This includes biodegradable materials for bone regeneration and personalised 3D-printed implants. “What motivates me most is applying chemistry to real medical challenges and creating meaningful impact,” she says.
Future career goals in chemistry
In the future, Viktoria aims to work in pharmaceutical or organic chemistry. She wants to contribute to the development of materials or compounds with real-world medical impact. Studying at IMC Krems has strengthened her academic knowledge and supported her personal growth. Today, she is more structured, independent and confident, ready to take the next steps in her career.
