Nora Pautmeier (23) originally comes from the beautiful Münsterland region, is currently living in Vienna and studying Marketing at IMC Krems. Alongside her studies, she works as a photographer and in social media. Creativity is a recurring theme in her life: whether she is taking photographs, painting, writing or talking about life in your 20s in her podcast ‘Dating Yourself’ – Nora is always creating something. And when she's not, you'll find her outdoors or doing Pilates. ‘I love being active and exploring the world with curiosity,’ is how the young German describes herself.

Creativity comes on the road: Nora Pautmeier's journey from Münster via Bergen to Krems

Storytelling
During her bachelor's degree, the 23-year-old realised how fascinated she was by storytelling, brand management and the connection between strategy and creativity. ‘I didn't want to focus on science, but on practical content that would really help me and give me pleasure,’ says the student. In her opinion, there is no comparable programme in Germany. ‘The marketing master degree programme at IMC, on the other hand, convinced me right away because it not only offers the practical specialisation of fashion & lifestyle marketing, but also because everyday university life is characterised by internationality and personal interaction,’ she continues.
Positive overall experience
"It gives me great pleasure every day to learn so many new perspectives on content. Through international exchanges with fellow students and professors, the world is open to me, and that's a nice feeling, ‘ says Pautmeier, describing her everyday student life, which is already a highlight for her overall. ’I'm particularly looking forward to the Capstone Project, which is coming up now. This will allow us to work in groups to implement a marketing campaign for a real fashion brand. ‘Pretty cool, right?’ she continues enthusiastically.
Distance learning bachelor's degree and Bergen up close
Nora Pautmeier completed her bachelor degree in communication studies at the University of Münster. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, most of her studies took place online and at a distance. This made her even more delighted when she was able to start her semester abroad in Bergen, Norway. ‘I always say that it was the best time of my life so far – everyone should spend a longer period of time in another country,’ says the Münster native with conviction, adding: ‘That was the starting point for my dynamic life, because afterwards I worked in marketing in various cities for a year until I finally moved to Vienna and Krems for my master's degree abroad.’
In English, please!
‘I love studying in English!’ says Nora Pautmeier enthusiastically. Thanks to her experience abroad, she now finds it easy to study in a foreign language, but that wasn't always the case. ‘It takes a good deal of courage at the beginning because it's unfamiliar at first. You don't have to speak perfect English to be successful – it's much more important that you just do it, that you dare to speak,’ she advises future students. In addition, practice makes perfect, and then communicating in English becomes easier.
More than just acquiring knowledge
‘I think studying is not just about acquiring knowledge, it's a time when you get to know yourself better, meet new people, experience intercultural exchange and learn soft/hard skills that are crucial in professional life,’ says the IMC student, reflecting on her journey so far. For her, it has been above all a time of personal growth, and she has learned what she is good at, what interests her and what she cannot imagine doing in the future. ‘It's all part of it,’ Nora is convinced.
When she completes her studies next year, Nora Pautmeier would like to use her marketing expertise for her own creative projects and gain practical experience in an international environment with a brand of sports and lifestyle.
We wish her every success!
