An international education as a strong foundation

Florian’s academic journey reflects his global mindset: after graduating from IMC Krems, he completed a Bachelor degree at NEOMA Business School in France and an M.Sc. in International Management within the prestigious CEMS programme at the University of Economics in Prague and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) in São Paulo. This international network of universities equipped him perfectly for his later professional stations across Europe, Africa and South America.

A career with Lufthansa and Amazon: Passion for logistics

Whether in Digital Sales at Lufthansa Cargo or Operations Management at Amazon, Florian combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. His passion for aviation, logistics management and project management is evident in every career step. His goal: to design efficient processes, coordinate international teams, and drive innovation across global logistics networks.

Behind the scenes with Florian Brezina

Which of the nine countries you’ve lived in shaped your career the most?

It’s really the combination, as each experience builds on the previous one. My first time abroad as a student in the United States sparked my passion for travel. During my Erasmus exchange in France and an internship in Switzerland, I learned French – which later enabled me to work in West Africa. In the Czech Republic and Germany, I wasn’t far from home, but my work was still truly international. Today, my friends are spread across the globe. Maintaining these friendships can be challenging but is incredibly rewarding – and often a great excuse to travel again.

What does your high-vis vest mean to you in your daily work?

Beyond its obvious role for safety, the vest symbolises my connection to physical operations. As a site manager at Amazon, I start my day on the shop floor, talking to employees and working with them to improve our processes. That collaboration motivates me immensely, because I work directly with people and can see the results of our efforts in real time. Once the parcels are on their way to customers, my focus shifts to regional and cross-European projects that enhance our operations in Austria and beyond.

How have your international experiences shaped your view of management and leadership?

Moving frequently has taught me to adapt quickly to new environments, especially when you don’t know the culture or speak the local language. I was often the new person – the outsider – in a team. That can be challenging, but it also gives you a valuable outside perspective. Today, this experience helps me manage international teams. In fact, my experience shows that diverse teams consistently outperform homogeneous ones – and work is simply more fun that way!

What advice would you give students aiming for a career in Amazon Logistics or international logistics in general?

Logistics offers graduates the chance to take on leadership responsibilities early in their careers. At Amazon, our junior managers lead teams of up to 80 employees from day one, while also contributing to exciting projects across our European logistics network. Your field of study isn’t a hiring criterion – we employ not only logistics experts but also psychologists, music graduates and business professionals. You can find all open positions in Austria and worldwide on www.amazon.jobs.
