ISCONTOUR 2025: International platform for tourism research at IMC Krems

Empowering young tourism researchers

On 12 and 13 May 2025, IMC Krems hosted the International Student Conference in Tourism Research (ISCONTOUR), bringing together around 100 students, graduates, academics, and industry experts from around the globe.

 A stage for emerging scholars

 Founded in 2013 by Prof. (FH) Mag. Christian Maurer (IMC Krems) ISCONTOUR provides a platform for young researchers to present their Bachelor, Master, and PhD theses to     an international audience. Since 2019, the conference has been alternately hosted by IMC Krems and MCI Innsbruck.

The 2025 conference covered topics including:

    Inspiring keynotes and networking opportunities

    In addition to research presentations, attendees could look forward to workshops on innovative research methodologies and keynote speeches from leading figures in academia and industry. ISCONTOUR also offered ample networking opportunities with professionals from both the academic and business sectors.

    Best Paper Award: recognising excellence 

    A highlight of the conference was the Best Paper Award, which honors outstanding scholarly work and provides researchers with increased visibility.

    The winners of the Best Paper Award 2025 are:

    1. Place: Jaqueline Reusch – Harz University of Applied Sciences, Germany (HafenCity: Balancing tourism and livability)

    2. Place: Karolina Krupauerova – MCI University of Applied Sciences, Austria (Segmentation of Ski Resort Visitors According to Ski Destination Choice Attributes with a Focus on Czech Families 

    3. Place: Joseph Henessey Gorriceta – THD - Deggendorf Institute of Technology, European Campus Rottal-Inn, Germany (Preserving Paradise: Framework to Develop Sustainable Tourism in San Vicente, Palawan, Philippine)

    “With ISCONTOUR, we aim to motivate students and graduates to engage in research. It is always a joy to see the beaming faces of authors after they have successfully presented their work. For some, this first publication may lay the foundation for an academic career,” says Prof. (FH) Mag. Christian Maurer, Head of Institute Wine Business & Marketing, IMC Krems.
